Rory Baldwin is an Inverness-based singer and songwriter who has been part of the local scene for more than 25 years. He has performed since the 90s with cult bands including Lymerick Smith and The Ball Deep, while more recently with Woodentooth and cover band The Collective. Origami Wolf serves as his solo performing and recording identity, with Origami Wolves a developing new full band sound with different songs, but the same DNA.
Drawing inspiration from alt.country, folk, pop, grunge and alternative rock, Origami Wolf songs combine melodic songwriting with an eye for detail, language and storytelling. Whether performing solo or as part of a band, his music balances intimate, reflective moments and a wry sense of humour with the energy and immediacy of live performance.
Over the years he has played everywhere from small local venues to festival main stages, supporting acts like The Supernaturals, The View, Joshua James, Chuck Mosely (Faith No More) and Ethan Johns (producer for Ray LaMontagne, Kings of Leon), building a reputation as a thoughtful songwriter and versatile performer. Finally becoming at home in the pelt of Origami Wolf, he continues to create music rooted in strong melodies, honest lyrics and a journey to grow as a writer.
